I got involved with this forum because someone I work with gave me a sample of Keys Island rx. I started using it to shower and wash my hair. After two weeks, I thought that my hair was thicker and fuller. After a month, I know it is the case. Believe me, I am not complaining!

Can anyone tell me if I am crazy or it it true?

Gord

Just wanted to say I'm no expert on hair loss or growth, but I've been reading up on what seems to help. Many believe that the healthy omega-3 fats go a long way to make hair healthier--O-3's natually found in food like Salmon (eat only wild, not farmraised) flaxseed oil, avocados, almonds, brazil nuts. I read that hair is made of a form of protein, called keratin--so protein sources, eggs, beans, fish, can over time make hair healthier. I also read that if you shampoo has good healthy ingreds like olive oil, avocado oil or shea butter it's like a conditioning every time you wash cause they act to fill in the cracks in the hair-so maybe that's why it would feel fuller?

Wow, I didn't realize you could use the Island products as shampoo. My hair tends to be very dry right now, due to health reasons, will I be able to get a comb through it if I use it with no conditioner? Any thoughts...

Hi Alissa, Hair types are always hard to call.

My hair used to be dry, because of the shampoo I was using. It was stripped straw!

I use Island Rx for my whole body. The oils really helped my hair smooth out and I have a natural shine. My hair is medium to fine.

My girl friend tried it and it made her hair a little frizzy. Her hair is thick and a little wavy. She used a leave in conditioner and it smoothed out for her.

I asked Wendy about her daily skin care practice. I think I will go back and ask her about haircare as well.

Give it a try. I found that it took a few shampoos to get the junk out of my hair and build up the natural oils again.

Hi--I saw the thought thread and Jackie's wanting to ask about my haircare.

I use Island Rx Head to Toe! My hair is thick although the texture is more fine and straight. I agree with Jackie--when I first started using Island Rx on my hair it did take a few shampoos to get the other hair care products and junk off of my hair! Most people don't even know what their hair is supposed to feel like because it is so chemically over- processed from the heavy concentrations of sodium lauryl sulfates (SLS) and a myriad of parabens and other junk that is in 95%+ of all shampoos! The avocado oil in Island Rx is so nourishing for the scalp and hair--and creates great shine! In the warmer months if my scalp feels a little more oily at the nape of the neck I switch to Windsurfer for a few shampoos and go back to Island Rx.

We have customers with naturally curly or coarse hair that like Island Rx for its chemical-free cleaning of their hair.--They have found that a little Tortuga Lotion is useful as a chemical-free hair conditioner. While hair is wet apply a little Tortuga (after rubbing slightly into palms of hands)to outer hair. (I have heard from some of the men that they like to rub a little Tortuga directly into their scalp after washing) Then dry and style. If you like your conditioner in your shampoo--try a mix of Island Rx & Tortuga and shake in a small bottle. May take some experimentation to get the feel you like best. No chemicals...no worries!

Hope this helps!

Thank you both, I'm very excited to try this.

Even the organic and "healthy" shampoos out there have so many different things in them that I honestly don't even know what they are most of the time.

Then I use them, feeling a false sense of security I'm sure, and my hair is even drier than when I use the chemical ridden one's. I will be thrilled to try out the Island Rx because at least I actually believe in the ingredient list and I will use some Tortuga after, that's also a wonderful suggestion.

I'll post how it turns out, I have very long curly, thick hair, so I'll put the products to the true test. :-)

Hey Guys

Im very new to this forum and i also wana share my experience wid you'll. My hair was very frizzy and rough, and as a result i was facing tremendous hair loss. I had tried many shampoos and oils but they were'nt of any help...However, since past few months i've resorted to natural products as they are chemical free and have no side effects. I always oil my hair with Emami Amla Herbal Hair Oil around two hours before shampoo and then wash my hair. This leaves my hair absolutely soft and silky, and my breakage has almost become nil...
